ASC seeks an Executive Director with experience in the non-profit sector to oversee all strategic, programmatic, financial, and management functions, including leading fundraising efforts and overseeing our programs and initiatives. You will work closely with the Executive Board and volunteer teams to implement the ASC mission and work to expand organizational reach, fundraising, and professional development opportunities for the professional science communication community.
We are looking for someone with vision and leadership experience who also works well in a team environment. Essential qualifications include:

● Good organization skills and attention to detail.
Preference will be given to someone with a background in science communication but we welcome applications from other non-profit sectors.
Major roles and responsibilities
- Work with the Executive Board to implement our strategic plan.
- Manage daily operations and coordinate with volunteer teams to execute current initiatives and build new initiatives in keeping with the strategic plan.
- Cultivate ongoing relationships with existing donors and develop new relationships to include sustained giving programs, Foundation support, and corporate sponsors.
- Work with existing partners to enhance ongoing initiatives and develop new initiatives with both existing partners and new partner prospects.
- Empower volunteers to make decisions and take ownership of projects.
- Work with the Board to increase organizational diversity in an authentic way that enhances both individuals and the organization.
- Ensure an inclusive workplace where individuals from a diversity of backgrounds can thrive and use their skills to grow our organization in a way that is representative of our values.
- Be a strong ambassador for the organization and work to enhance ASC’s reputation and national/international reach.
- Work with the Board to develop organizational systems that enhance operations, reporting, oversight, and evaluation.
Compensation
This is a part-time remote position (approximately 20 hrs/week). Starting salary is $40,000. We also provide $4,000/year for travel to represent ASC at conferences, workshops, and other events. We offer a flexible schedule to accommodate family responsibilities, vacation, and other needs. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal based on ED and Board agreement.
